Will latest graphics card work with my old Asus P5GC-MX motherboard?

i have a pc with Asus P5GC-MX motherboard.it has a built in intel gma graphics chip which is really dumb,so i want to upgrade it.so i was thinking will latest graphics card work in my motherboard which is quite old about 3 years?, i have 1.5 gb ddr2 ram,intel dual core 3 ghz. i heard that sometimes integrated graphics card conflicts with external graphics cards,so will do any kind of problems?
