What is the importance of reading clic literature (in high school)?

We can see how literature (and culture as well) has developed from when the clic novels were written until the present time. We can see how authors wrote back then. We can see how people spoke back then, what they did, how they dressed, their customs and traditions, etcetera, and compare it to modern culture. Also, by requiring high school students to read clic novels in school, we're preserving them. A lot of people wouldn't pick up a clic novel if they hadn't been required to in school. Some people don't like or enjoy reading the clics, but even they have to admit that they learned something from them.
