If different nations go to war....?

why do the average people fight in the war? Isn't it conflicts of the leaders? The average people have an ordinary life and why do they fight? Another question. Why is it called war in iraq when the american army isn't even fighting an iraqi army? What are we still in there for? There are no WMD.
