How would a person turn out if you raised them this way?

I always thought that if you don't give a teenager a lot of freedom as they got older, once they got out on their own, they wouldn't be able to handle it and end up addicted to drugs or being promiscuous, maybe something worse, if there is anything that bad. I also thought the same about kids whose parents keep them locked up all the time and forcing them to study or putting so much emphasis on academics. If you give someone a lot of freedom as a teenager, will they turn out to be a successful adult, or will it damage their future? If you keep someone locked up and keep them from the outside world as much as possible as a teenager, will they become a successful adult or will it damage their future?
